IIT Madras Pravartak, SWAYAM Plus launch skill-based training programme for engineering, science students

NEW DELHI: IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has collaborated with SWAYAM Plus to launch a training programme aimed at equipping engineering and science students from electronics backgrounds with industry-relevant technical skills. The training programme will span 11 days, and the registration process is already underway. Course content includes PWM basics, embedded system design with STM 32 microcontroller, configuring GPIO ports and many more.

As per the official press release, students who perform exceptionally well in the program will receive placement assistance. Pravartak will be responsible for selecting candidates for the training programme, which aims to equip them with industry-ready skills. The training sessions will take place on the IIT Madras campus.

Schedule and registration details

The IIT Madras training programme is scheduled from October 7 to October 18. The training will take place from 9 am to 6 pm. The training programme registration fee is Rs 15,000 plus GST. The deadline for applications is October 3, 2024. Interested participants can register via the following link iitmpravartak.org.in/advanced_electronic_mfg). As per the official press release, engineering, diploma, science students, and graduates with a background in electronics are eligible for the training programme.

IIT Madras Training Programme: Accommodation details

Accommodation will be available at the IIT Madras campus for Rs 650 per day, covering both food and lodging. As per the official IIT Madras press release, requests for accommodation are required to be submitted on or before October 3.

Training programme overview

As per the official website, the training course focuses on advanced electronics manufacturing and assembly, offering comprehensive learning on the entire inline assembly process. Participants will receive training to operate equipment such as the Solder Paste Printer (Fuji), Solder Paste Inspection System (KOYUNG), Pick and Place Machine (Yamaha), Reflow Oven (Heller), and AOI (KOYUNG). The practical sessions will involve assembling SMT components on custom-designed PCBs. Additionally, the course provides instruction on handling components using ESD-safe methods, soldering techniques, and the basics of solder paste and stencils.

Learning objectives

As per the official website, the course is designed to provide the following:

  • Understanding of automatic assembly process using SMT and through hole components.
  • Understanding power electronics components and circuits.
  • Basic Experiments with STM 32 embedded system.
  • Power electronics application with STM 32 embedded system.
