IIT Mandi faculty gets Professor Satish Dhawan Young Engineers State Award

NEW DELHI : Karnataka State Council of Science and Technology (KSCST) conferred the Professor Satish Dhawan Young Engineers state award to Mrityunjay Doddamani today, March 31. Doddamani is a faculty at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi. Doddamani received the award at the state awards ceremony 2020-21, organised at Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore.
Doddamani received the award under the 'Engineering Sciences' category for his contributions towards the field. The award comprised a state medal certificate along with a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000, a memento and a citation. Bharat Ratna recipient CNR Rao, Minister for higher education CN Ashwath Narayan and others were also present on the occasion.

A statement from IIT Mandi said that KSCST had invited nominations for the state awards for the year 2020 and 2021 in April 2022. As many as 330 nominations had been received for the same under various categories. Former chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) had recommended 28 scientists and engineers for the state awards.
Doddamani, after receiving the award, said "I feel humbled and grateful to receive the award in the presence of Bharat Ratna awardee Professor CNR Rao and this award is a great recognition of our contribution in Engineering sciences".
"We are happy to be able to share our research findings in the manufacturing domain in a small way and I thank all my students, esteemed mentors, collaborators and colleagues who generously supported us in exploring our research activities", he further said.
Currently, Doddamani is working in the additive manufacturing of advanced composites and cyber security in the manufacturing domain, in addition to developing lightweight composite materials and syntactic foams for various applications, the official release issued by the institute said.
