IIT Roorkee starts School of Data Science and AI; admission from 2022

IIT Roorkee’s School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will offer undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, in collaboration with the Mehta Family Foundation, USA, has established the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence to cater to the growing demand for data analytics and artificial intelligence experts globally. The school will offer undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes and induct the first batch of bachelor degree students from September 2022.
An agreement was signed between the two organizations during a virtual event on September 27, 2021. Ajit K Chaturvedi, director, IIT Roorkee and Rahul Mehta, chief executive office, Mehta Family Foundation, USA, signed the agreement.

As a part of this collaboration, the new school will offer bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programmes. “The first cohort of bachelor degree students for this new program will be welcomed in September 2022. The school aims to develop new and skilled manpower in the areas of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence by offering focused training and certifications in these fields,” said a statement from IIT Roorkee.

Expressing his views on this international academic collaboration K VijayRaghavan, said, "Artificial intelligence research and training is key to our future. AI technologies are critical for India and will have a significant social and economic impact in the coming years. This international academic collaboration between IIT Roorkee and MFF is a commendable effort to ensure that India continues on its innovation trajectory.”
Chaturvedi said: "A large number of faculty of the institute have contributed in conceiving this School. I am sure they will nurture the growth of the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at IIT Roorkee.”
