IIT Ropar organises SAMRIDHI conclave on innovation in agriculture, water technology

As many as 48 start ups are presenting their projects and ideas at the Deeptech Startup Accelerator programme of IIT Ropar.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Ropar) is hosting the Deeptech Startup Accelerator programme, which aims at catalysing innovation in agriculture and water technology.

The programme is being held under the SAMRIDHI (Strategic Acceleration for Market, Research, Innovation and Development: a Holistic Initiative for ICPS Startups) initiative of IIT Ropar’s iHub AwaDH. The iHub AwaDH was set up under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS).

The SAMRIDHI conclave was inaugurated by Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit. A total of 13 startups, which were shortlisted for the conclave, presented their ideas while 25 startups showcased their solutions at the exhibition. IIT Ropar said more than 50 jury members evaluated and mentored the startups.

The conclave was supported by 46 investment partners and over 110 partners nationwide actively contributed to driving innovation and fostering technological self-reliance. More than 30 experts spoke on strategic acceleration for market research, innovation and development, it added.

The event also emphasised on DST's role in shaping the future of technology in the region through NMICPS. The Mission has led to the generation of 311 technologies, 549 technology products and created 1,613 CPS research bases and contributed to more than 60,000 cps skilling.

NM-ICPS Mission director Ekta Kapoor presented the key highlights of the mission leading to CPS technology interventions across sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure health, defence, and environment.

IIT Ropar director Rajeev Ahuja, Panjab University vice-chancellor Renu Vig, AwaDH director Pushpendra Pal Singh and Bhashini Digital India CEO Amitabh Nag were also present on the occasion.
