NEW DELHI: Dozens of students of Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi were injured on Friday, December 13, during their protest march against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 (CAB). They were attempting to march from their campus in Jamia Nagar, Okhla, to the Parliament when they were met with tear gas and batons of the police.
Syed Azharuddin from Students Islamic Organisation said that 50 students were also detained at the Badarpur police station. The injured students were taken to Holy Family Hospital. Twitter-user Saba Anis wrote: "Students protesting against and police clash at Jamia Milia Islamia, teargas and lathi charge being resorted to. Heavy barricading around campus. Stuck at Holy Family Hospital, see steady stream of injured students being rushed to the Hospital."
