ITM Institute of Design and Media organized annual fest “Sparkplug 2019”

NEW DELHI, JUNE 4: ITM Institute of Design and Media organized its annual fest “Sparkplug 2019”. The fest showcased the Innovative and creative ideas of the students across Fashion Design, Interior Design, Visual Communication, Animation and VFX disciplines. The theme for the design show was how designers can be Socially responsible ie. How can they give back to the society what they have learnt?
Some of the key highlights from the visual communication students’ collection were “The Sex Talk” and “Modern Mahabharata”. The Sex Talk is a comic brochure which depicts how parents can initiate the conversation about sex to their children in a quirky way and Modern Mahabharata is a millennial twist narrated through Kavad style which is one of the ancient ways of storytelling. Whereas the fashion design students developed innovative collections inspired from Japanese art of Kintsugi, Pandora Box, Beautiful Flower Physalis Alkekengi, Glass Moulds. One of the nostalgic collections called “Prestigio Gloria”, inspired by Migrated Sindhis portrayed acceptance of finite disappointment without losing infinite hope.
The Interior design students display, inspired by Sustainability for today’s generation portrayed Tiny Houses. In another interesting display, the after effects of Industrialization and urbanization, which has lead to an alarming situation of destruction of Mother nature was depicted.
The show stoppers were Candice Pinto, Sucheta Sharma, Shahnawaz and Sunny Cheema while few of the jury members were industry experts including Narayan Shi, Founder Director/Producer Purple Pictures, Poonam Kadam, Creative Director, Integra Advertising and renowned architect Ajay Patil.
Nitin Putcha CEO ITM Group of Institutions said “Sparkplug is organized annually in order to give hands-on experience to the design enthusiasts to showcase creative collections designed by students of ITM IDM. We are extremely proud of our students and their design skills, passion and creativity.”
Preeti Khode, Director ITM IDM said, “Sparkplug allows our students to express their creativity through innovative project installations, thematic competitions along with a grand Fashion show. I am extremely happy to see the enthusiasm, energy and spirit of our young budding designers!”
The event highlighted creativity, sustainability, and philanthropy amongst the youngsters and was seen as a great platform for students.
