NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday conducted searches at 20 locations across the country in a case related to alleged irregularities being committed in JEE Mains Exams 2021 by a private educational institution.

According to ANI report, “Searches being conducted at 20 locations across the country, in a case related to alleged irregularities being committed in ongoing JEE (Mains) Exams 2021 by a private educational institution, its directors and associates and other unknown persons: CBI.”

CBI registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Affinity Education Pvt Ltd and its directors, Siddharth Krishna, Vishambhar Mani Tripathi and Govind Varshney on charges that they were manipulating JEE Main 2021 examination, according to media reports.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) was conducting the JEE Main session 4 yesterday.

As per the reports, the accused persons were facilitating aspiring students to get admission to top National Institutes of Technology (NITs) by solving the JEE Main question paper 2021 through remote access from a chosen examination centre in Sonepat, Haryana.

“Each candidate was asked for Rs 15 lakh. In return someone else would write their exam and assurance was given by the conspirators of a positive result," News18 reported.

Raids were carried out at 20 locations in Delhi, NCR, Pune, Indore and Jamshedpur. The agency also found 25 laptops, 7 computers, around 30 post-dated cheques along with voluminous documents, the report said.
