New Delhi, September 1 : NTA will release the JEE Main application form 2020 on September 2. Application form will be available in official website jeemain.nic.in in online mode. The last date to fill application form as well as for payment of application fee is September 30. NTA will conduct the JEE Main 2020 exam from January 6 to 11 on multiple dates and shifts at across 297 centres in India and 9 test centres abroad.

Admission in UG courses in engineering and architecture at prestigious institutes like IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs is through JEE Main exam. NTA conducts JEE Main twice a year in January and April in online mode. Students have the option of appearing in one or both the attempts wherein, marks secured in best of two attempts is considered for admission. JEE Main application form for April attempt will be available from February 7 to March 7, 2020 and the exam will be conducted from April 3-9.

JEE Main Registration Process
Students who wish to apply for JEE Main 2020 have to fill the application form in online mode. Application forms will be available in online mode only at official portal of JEE Main 2020. Students have to fill the application form, upload photograph and signature and pay the fees in online mode through Credit/ Debit card, Online Banking or e-Challan. Students are not required to send the hard copy of application form to NTA but they should keep a copy of filled form along with them. Students who will fill the form within specified dates will be issued admit card to appear for the exam. Students are advised to ensure their eligibility before filling the application form.

Pattern of JEE Main Exam
JEE Main exam will have two papers, Paper 1 for admission in Engineering courses and Paper 2 for admission in Architecture and Planning courses. Paper 1 contains a total of 90 questions, 30 each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. All the questions in Paper 1 will be objective in nature. Paper 2 has 83 questions, 30 from Mathematics, 50 from General Aptitude and 3 from Drawing Skills. All the questions will be objective in nature except the drawing part. Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be conducted as Computer based test of 3 hours duration while Drawing Part of Paper 2 will be conducted as Paper Pencil based test.

Admission Process in IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs
The result of JEE Main 2020 January attempt will be released by January 30 and for April attempt, it will be released by April 30. Students who qualify JEE Main will become eligible for admission in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Admission process will be carried out through a centralised online counselling conducted by JoSAA. The top 2,45,000 students from JEE Main qualifies for appearing in JEE Advanced. Students who want to take admission in IITs need to qualify JEE Advanced which will be conducted in May after the conclusion of JEE Main April exam.

What's New in JEE Main
NTA has increased the test practise centres of JEE Main from 3400 to 4000. Test practise centres are the centres where students can practise the mock tests.

The authorities have also announced that foreign students desirous of admission in Indian institutes will now be required to appear for JEE Main from 2021. Foreign candidates till now are exempted from appearing in JEE Main and they can register directly for appearing in JEE Advanced, subject to meeting other eligibility criterias.
