NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 17: The O. P. Jindal Global University (JGU), Sonipat, has been officially recognized as an Institution of Eminence(IoE) by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
JGU has become one of the 10 premier private institutions to have been given this status. The IoE tag allows the institutions to free themselves from stringent government regulations and exert more autonomy in the functioning of the institutions.
On achieving this milestone, the Founding Chancellor of JGU, Naveen Jindal said, “The recognition of JGU as an IoE in a decade of its existence is a tribute to the outstanding contribution of its faculty, students and staff. This will create new opportunities for expanding the university while breaking new grounds in promoting excellence and innovation in institution building.”
In July 2019, JGU was ranked in the global top 150 in the QS Young University Rankings 2020 and became the only private university from India to be featured in the rankings.
“This is a red-letter day for JGU and is truly remarkable that the recognition of JGU as an Institution of Eminence has come during our 10th anniversary celebrations,” said Dr. C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor of JGU.
JGU now joins BITS Pilani, Rajasthan; Manipal Academy of Higher Education, and Jio Institute (Reliance Foundation, Maharashtra) in the list of private institutions who have been granted the IoE status.
