JNU revises PhD admission schedule for 2025-26; first merit list on August 29

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has revised the exam schedule for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) admissions for the academic year 2025-26. As per the revised schedule, the JNU first merit list for PhD admissions will be published on August 29.

Candidates allotted seats in the first list will have to complete the pre-enrolment registration and pay the admission fee from August 29 to August 31. Earlier, the first merit list for PhD admissions was scheduled to be published on August 11.

Candidates shortlisted for the viva-voce round will be informed by August 8. The viva-voce examinations are scheduled to be held from August 13 to August 20. Physical verification of admission and registration for candidates selected in the first list will be carried out from September 8 to September 11.

JNU will admit candidates to its PhD programmes based on their performance in national-level examinations. Candidates who have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and hold a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) will be considered for admission. For PhD courses offered by the School of Engineering, selection will be based on GATE scores.
