NEW DELHI: Harsh Pandit, a Class 7 student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jabalpur, ran a 900 km marathon to raise awareness on pollution, water conservation and the vision of a plastic-free India. It took Pandit 18 days to reach his destination - India Gate, New Delhi.

In a statement, Pandit said that he was inspired to spread the message of Plastic Free India and water conservation. “My father supported me to achieve this target. I am also thankful to my teachers and principals for providing moral support,” he said.

Pandit, who was accompanied by his father during the run, covered close to 50 km each day. He had started his run on January 26 and was greeted at the finish line by senior officials of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.

He was felicitated by Minister of Human Resource and Development Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on February 12.
