NEW DELHI: Maharashtra government has asked the CBSE and the ICSE Boards to conduct the Class 10, 12 exams later or mark students on the basis of internal marks. The state government has taken this decision due to the present condition of the COVID-19 pandemic. The government also said that the conduction of exams in the present scenario will be a risk for the health of thousands of students, as per the Hindustan Times report.

The Maharashtra government had sent the letter to the Board earlier which said that it will be extremely difficult for the students to reach the examination centres in the Coronavirus situation. Therefore, the state government urges the CBSE and ICSE Boards to either conduct the examination once the situation improves or mark students as per internal marks.

“We have already told students in a circular released last month that in a situation wherein they cannot write the exam, they can send a representation through the school and the board would allow them to appear for the exam at the time of compartmental exams conducted at a later date. If internal exam marks are considered, many parents would object to it again,” said the ICSE Board official.

Earlier, the CISCSE Board released the exam dates for Class 10 and 12, according to which the exams are scheduled to be conducted from July 2 to July 12, 2020, for Class 10. Class 12 pending exams will be held from July 1 to July 14, 2020.

On the other hand, CBSE Board released the revised exam dates for Class 10, 12 students, the postponed exams are all set to be conducted from July 1 to 15, 2020.

Maharashtra government has asked the CBSE and ICSE Boards to submit the data of the number of Class 10, 12 students appeared in the examination. The government is planning to have a virtual meeting with the Boards on June 6, 2020.
