Modern School Barakhamba wins second edition of DHFL Behtar India campaign

NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 28: DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance Co. Ltd. felicitated 8374 students and 28 schools during the grand finale of the second season of Behtar India Campaign. The campaign ambassador, Parineeti Chopra, leading Bollywood actress graced the occasion and presented the awards and medallions to the winning students and schools.

Launched in 2017, the Behtar India campaign is a social collaboration initiative that rallies different segments of the society together to work towards making their cities cleaner, greener and healthier. Based on the three main pillars of Behtar Swasthya, Behtar Swachhta, and Behtar Vatavaran, it supplements the government's efforts to provide promotive and preventive healthcare to the community.

Speaking on the occasion, Anoop Pabby, MD & CEO, DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance Co. Ltd., said “It is our belief that each of us has a role to play towards sustainability and that is the message we have sent through Behtar India. Development can be termed as sustainable if it meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Behtar India 2018-19 has been a huge success and we are overwhelmed to see the response from schools and students from across the country. We like to congratulate the winning schools and students for their contribution to the campaign and the corporates for their valuable support to this unique initiative.”

Sharing her experience, Parineeti Chopra, Campaign Ambassador and Renowned Actress said, “I am so happy and honoured to be a part of the Behtar India campaign. I associated myself with this campaign because the cause is close to my heart. We are delighted that such a large number of students from across the country have participated in this campaign. These students are the future of our country and we want to educate them and make them more responsible towards making a Behtar India through community service.”

The gold medal in the Behtar India Vatavaran category went to Kalvakuntla Himanshu Rao from Oakridge international school (Gachibowli), Telangana for collecting 29,482kgs. of recyclable waste. The silver medals went to three students who are Mehul Agarwal, Modern School Delhi; Rishab Suar, KIIT International School, Bhubaneswhar and Yug Vikarm Jain, Vidyashilp Academy (Yelahanka), Bangalore for collecting 26563 kgs., 21395 kgs. and 16,387 kgs. of recyclable waste respectively.

The Bronze medal was won by six students who are Kavya Shah, Delhi Public School, Bangalore North; Naman Chandgothia, Birla High School (Moira Street), Kolkata; Akshar Kumar Kolla, Vidyashilp Academy (Yelahanka), Bangalore; Mrunmayee Thakare, Pawar Public School (Kandivali), Mumbai; Manvi Jain, and Aradhya Munjal from Modern School, Delhi for collecting 11,860 kgs. , 10474 kgs., 8645 kgs., 8616 kgs., 7595 kgs. and 6386 kgs. of recyclable waste respectively.

In the school category, Modern School, Barakhamba bagged the Gold trophy by collecting 56662 kgs. of waste followed by DAV Public School (Velachery), Chennai and Shree Niketan Patasala (Tambaram), Chennai which seized the silver trophies for collecting 36286 kgs. and 35398 kgs. of recyclable waste respectively. The Bronze trophies went to Oakridge international school (Gachibowli) in Hyderabad; Vidyashilp Academy (Yelahanka) in Karnataka and KIIT International School in Bhubaneshwar for collecting 34137 kgs. , 30,585 kgs. and 24,430 kgs. of recyclable waste respectively.
