NEW DELHI, JANUARY 4: The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has declared the result of FMGE (Screening Test) for December session 2018, today. The result can be viewed on the official website of NBE and Foreign Medical Graduates Examination website. The result of FMGE 2018 is declared in the form of a PDF file containing the roll numbers, score (out of 300) and result status of all candidates who had appeared for FMGE 2018 December session. The candidate will be able to download their individual scorecards by January 8, 2019.

The December session of FMGE 2018 was conducted on December 14 for which 12,409 candidates had registered. As many as 12,077 candidates appeared for the examination out of which 1,275 candidates have cleared it and 7,826 candidates have failed. The result of 2,976 candidates has been withheld until further notice from NBE. Candidates are required to score 150 out of 300 i.e. 50% of the total marks to qualify the exam.

NBE conducts the FMGE exam biannually in the month of June and in December. It is essential for the candidates who are Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) with foreign medical qualifications and who wish to register themselves with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or any State Medical Council (SMC) to take the FMGE exam. Without qualifying the exam such candidates will not be allowed to practice medicine in India.

Since 2002, FMGE has been made compulsory for all Foreign Medical Graduates who are Indian nationals or OCIs. However, students holding undergraduate and postgraduate medical degrees from countries like Australia/Canada/New Zealand/ United Kingdom/United States of America are not required to give the FMGE exam as they have the provision to register themselves directly with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or any State Medical Council (SMC).

After the declaration of the result, the authorities will also notify the schedule for the distribution of the pass certificate of FMGE. It is expected to come out after a month, post the declaration of FMGE result. The Pass certificate will be issued for the candidates who are physically present to collect it.
