NEW DELHI, April 14: National Eligibility cum Entrance  (NEET) is going to be held country-wide on May 5, 2019. NEET is not just the biggest undergraduate medical examination, it also is the strictest of them all. The rules and guidelines issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA) are fairly detailed so as to minimize inconvenience for the students when they report to the allotted center for the exam. NTA has prescribed a dress code that has to be strictly adhered to failing which the candidate will not be allowed to sit for the exam. Along with other instruction on barred items and unfair means, the NEET dress code has also been mentioned in the official information brochure. Candidates appearing for the exam this year must ensure that they do not wear anything prohibited by the authority. For the convenience of the aspirants, list of dress code for male and female candidates has been listed below.

Dress code of male candidates 


  • Full sleeves clothes have been prohibited by the authority, therefore male candidates must ensure that they wear half sleeve shirts or t-shirts. 

  • Clothing with multiple numbers of zips, pockets, big buttons or an elaborate embroidery must be avoided. 

  • Male aspirants must not wear Kurta Pajama. It is advisable to appear for the exam wearing simple pants. 

  • Male candidates cannot wear shoes inside the exam hall, therefore, they should wear slippers or sandals.


Dress code for female candidates

 

  • Clothing with elaborate embroidery, brooches, and buttons must not be worn by female candidates. 

  • Light clothes with half-sleeves are the preferred dress code for women candidates. 

  • Female aspirants can also wear salwar and trousers. 

  • All female aspirants have been directed to wear flat slippers, sandals and low heels.

  • Any kind of ornament, for instance,  earrings, rings, pendants, nose ring, necklace or any kind of metallic item is strictly not allowed inside the exam hall. 

  • Frisking at the exam centers will be done through highly sensitive metal detectors thus it is advisable to not carry such items on their person. 


Customary Dress Code and Rules

 

Candidates following a particular religion have been allowed to wear their customary dress to the examination center. However, such candidates are required to report an hour early for the screening process. Candidates must report to the allotted centers latest by 12:30 PM so as to avoid any kind of delay. Officials consider articles of clothing like Burqa or headscarves, traditional items in Sikhism like kangha kara and kirpan as the customary dress.


Other barred items 


At the exam centers, aspirants are required to carry only the NEET 2019 admit card, a passport size photo, valid ID proof and PWD certificate (if applicable). Candidate must ensure that do not carry any of the barred items along with them to the exam center. The list of barred items has been provided below. 


  • Stationery items like bits of papers, geometry box, pen, scale, writing pad, pen drives, eraser, calculator, etc. 

  • Communication devices like mobile phones, Bluetooth, earphones, Health Band, etc.

  • Items like wallet, goggles, handbags, belts, cap, etc.

  • Watches/wrist watches, bracelets, camera, etc.

  • Any eatable item opened or packed or water bottle.
