NEW DELHI: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Science (NBEMS) will close the application form facility today for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test - Masters in Dental Surgery (NEET MDS 2024). However, the plea seeking NEET MDS 2024 postponement and extension of internship cut-off date is pending in Supreme Court and will be next heard on February 21.
Medical aspirants have been requesting the NBE, Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi to postpone NEET MDS 2024 to July and extend the internship cut-off date. However, the NEET MDS 2024 is not postponed yet. The announcement on exam postponement from February to March was made just two months prior to the NEET MDS exam date 2024.
Students’ associations have also voiced against the “injustice” as NEET PG aspirants were notified about the postponement six months before. The Supreme Court recently agreed to issue notice on a petition seeking to reschedule NEET MDS to July.
As per the criteria set by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the internship cut-off date for NEET MDS is March 31. However, the deadline will be a disadvantage to many students who will be completing their internship post March 31; making them ineligible to appear for the exam.
