Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), national chairperson, Rohan Krishnan said that most of the 2017 batch of students will be ineligible to sit for the PG exams this year and added that the cut-off should be increased till May 2023. Candidates appearing for the NEET PG have been trending #neetpg2023 to postpone NEET PG 2023 on twitter to alert authorities of their concerns.
The Indian Medical Association Junior Doctors Association has written a letter to National Medical Commission , chairman, Suresh Chandra Sharma regarding the situation and have requested to postpone the NEET PG eligibility criteria for internships from March 31 to June 30, 2023.
"Approximately 75% interns in Maharashtra and around the country are not eligible to appear for the exam, The special stray vacancy round of counselling started form January 6, 2023 are still under process which puts the students in dilemma whether to focus on the counselling or NEET PG 2023 application process," read the letter.
NEET-PG will most likely be discontinued from next year, as the government will be implementing a new two-part exit test for all MBBS students, that will be a basis for their registration as doctors and admissions for further PG courses. The uncertainty of the NEET PG schedule has affected students over the span of the last two years. This has led to a severe shortage of PG students in medical college hospitals that work as junior resident doctors as a part of their MBBS training.
Candidates can fill their NEET PG application form 2023 at nbe.edu.in on or before January 27, 2023.
