NEW DELHI: It’s highly likely that the University of Delhi will begin the admission process for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes from tomorrow, ie: June 20, 2020. This information has been shared by the Delhi University officials to the Press Trust of India (PTI) recently. According to a report by the PTI, Delhi University Standing Committee for Admissions had a meeting on June 9 wherein it was decided to begin the registration process from June 20 while the last date for closing the registration process was decided to be July 4. Besides this, it was also decided that the DU will open a separate window for students to update their 12th marks after CBSE result announcement.

Further, the committee has also decided that there will no sports or ECA trials around the same time of admissions. In other words, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the varsity is doing away with the sports and ECA trial. However, this would only be a one time measure looking at the current situation arisen from the spread of the Coronavirus. The sports quota admissions at Delhi University will take place through certificates only. In Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) quota too, except for NCC and NSS, there will be no admissions. However, for these admissions too, there will be no trails and the admissions will be offered based on the certificates only.

The cut off lists will begin to be out from August onwards. However, this is a wait and watch the situation, as many admission processes have been delayed and may get delayed due to the lockdown situation.

The University of Delhi conducts admissions for UG and PG programmes every year. It must be noted that admission to most of the undergraduate programmes (except a few courses) is offered based on the merit of the qualifying examination, while PG admissions are through Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET).
