NEW DELHI: NIOS has decided that it will not conduct the exams for special need learner or Divyang students who registered for Senior Secondary April-May 2020 examinations. These students of Class 12 will be assessed based on the project work/question answer based assessment (QABA).

The theory part comprises of two modules of 40 marks each, these marks will be awarded based on the student’s performance in project work/QABA. The theory exams for all other normal students are to be conducted as per the revised schedule, but the practical exams have been postponed until further notice.

The notification issued by NIOS states that this is the need of the hour as the special need learners or Divyang learns may not be able to travel. Some of the learners may also need scribes which is not possible with social distancing. It is also not convenient for some learners to wear a mask for a long duration during an examination. So these Class 12 students will be assessed based on project work/QABA.

Soon the board will come up with a complete plan of implementation of this assessment scheme. It will include the guidelines to conduct, time duration, mode of submission and evaluation.
