NISAU, ETS launch second edition of UK-India TOEFL scholarship; awards Rs 2.5 lakh

NEW DELHI: The National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU) and the Educational Testing Service (ETS) are offering scholarships to Indian students pursuing higher education in the United Kingdom (UK). The second edition of the UK-India TOEFL Scholarship awards Rs 2.5 lakh to 10 exceptional students for undergraduate or postgraduate programmes.

The application process for the UK-India TOEFL scholarship is underway and the last date to fill out the application form is July 15, 2024. To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates should have a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test score of 75 out of 120 along with an admission offer letter from a UK university for fall 2024 and spring 2025.

As per the official press release, this programme will provide financial assistance for tuition, books, transportation, and other costs for students who are pursuing full-time undergraduate or postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom. A committee comprised of representatives from NISAU and UK universities will select the 10 scholarship recipients.

Speaking about the initiative, the country manager of India and South Asia at ETS, Sachin Jain, said: “The scholarship aligns with our mission of advancing equity and access to quality higher education globally. The TOEFL test remains the most widely accepted test of English-language proficiency and has enabled admissions of millions of deserving students to universities worldwide."

Scholarship recipients will also serve as TOEFL ambassadors, promoting the programme and sharing their experiences, the press release read. The TOEFL iBT is an English-language proficiency test, and its scores are accepted by over 12,500 institutions in more than 160 countries worldwide.
