NITK Surathkal inaugurates tennis court donated by 1973 batch alumni

NEW DELHI: The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) Surathkal today inaugurated a court 1 of the AS Adke Tennis Academy. This tennis court has been constructed by the donation of the Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) batch of 1973 alumni. KREC was transformed into NITK.

The tennis court has been constructed as per the International Tennis Federation (ITF) standards using synthetic materials. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by NIT Karnataka director B Ravi. The alumni of the 1973 batch, faculty, staff, and students, participated in the event.

Expressing his gratitude, B Ravi said, “This generous contribution from the KREC batch of 1973 not only enriches our sports facilities but also serves as an inspiration for our students. The dedication and commitment shown by the entire batch of 1973 is a shining example of the spirit of giving back to the institution. This state-of-the-art tennis court will not only foster the sporting talents of our students but also instil in them the values of perseverance, teamwork, and dedication."

Dayananda Surathkal, an alumnus from the KREC 1973 batch, played a vital role in the construction of the tennis court. His tireless efforts and keen oversight from day one until the project’s completion were instrumental in bringing the project to completion.

The institute extends its deepest gratitude to the KREC batch of 1973 for their generous contribution. “We look forward to nurturing future tennis champions on this state-of-the-art court,” it added.
