Professor Sudhir Krishnaswam, vice- chancellor addressed the students and said, "The University has now implemented a new research policy to promote faculty involvement in joint research initiatives and democratise leadership of University Centres and Chairs. We are optimistic that these fresh beginnings will snowball into a quantum rise in research output at the University by allocating University resources to supporting specific faculty, Chairs, and Centres.

Krishnaswam also emphasised that the institution's governing bodies had decided to restart admitting international students to its academic programmes; second, to develop twinning, dual, and joint degree programmes with top universities worldwide; and third, to establish close research alliances with a few universities that would help advance the creation of new and valuable knowledge in a variety of fields.

Fourteen best performing students across the two batches in each of the Post Graduate Diploma programs were awarded certificates for their achievements. The medal winners credited the NLSIU for making them confident and providing a good community for support.
