NTSE stage 1 exam held on Nov 4

NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 4: The first stage of the National Talent Search Examination(NTSE) has been conducted on November 4, 2018. The exam included two papers- Paper 1 or Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Paper 2 or Scholastic Aptitude Test(SAT). Paper 1 was held for a duration of two hours from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and paper two from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

The NTSE stage 1 exam on November 4 was conducted for all the states and UTs except Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Andamans and Nicobar islands. The exam was conducted by the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) for each state. Students who qualify this stage have to appear for the second round of NTSE, to be conducted on May 12, 2019.

Candidates have to clear both MAT and SAT separately to be considered eligible for stage 2. Selection will, however, be done only on the basis of the combined score in both MAT and SAT. General category candidates have to score at least 40 per cent to qualify and the minimum qualifying marks for SC, ST and Physically challenged students is 32 per cent.

NTSE is taken by students of class 10. The scholarship is presented to students upto PhD level. 1000 scholarships are on offer for students studying in class 10. Scholarships are offered till Ph.D level. Class 11 and 12 students will get Rs.1,250 per month while UG and PG students will get Rs. 2000 per month.
