NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has told the Union Cabinet that full-fledged degree programmes can be launched online in January 2020. The MHRD has its own MOOC platform, called the Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds, of Swayam.

The Swayam board also decided to publish e-content for commercial purpose as per Creative Commons License requirements and it approved the proposal of publicizing SWAYAM courses through Community Service Centre, MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) through their Kiosks.

During the SWAYAM board meeting last month, Swayam local chapters, credit transfer, examination, translation of swayam courses, and the platform’s publicity strategy were also discussed.

The board also decided to include introductory videos in Swayam Prabha Portal. It also discussed on smoothening the SWAYAM examination system.

Government of India launched SWAYAM in 2017 is one integrated platform and portal for online courses designed to provide access, equity and quality.

Swayam hosts all the courses, including those for Class 9 till postgraduation.
