New Delhi, November 25: Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has conducted the preliminary exam of OPSC Civil Services today, November 25. OPSC Civil Services Prelims exam was held in offline mode in two shifts – morning (10 am-12 pm) and evening (2 pm-4 pm). The exam has been conducted in various centres of five cities of Odisha – Balasore, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Sambalpur.
The admit card of OPSC prelims was issued online from November 18, 2018. OPSC prelims admit card was valid till 4 pm today. The hall ticket could be accessed using registration number and date of birth. The admit card for all stages of the exam will be released separately few days prior to the commencement of exam.
The prelims exam comprised two papers – General Studies Paper 1 and General Studies Paper 2. Each paper was held for 200 marks and two hours were allotted to complete each paper. Both papers contained only objective type questions. Paper 2 is qualifying in nature and therefore, candidates will need to qualify Paper 2, then only their marks in Paper 1 will be evaluated. The minimum percentage required to qualify Paper 2 is 33%.
On the basis of marks secured in the prelims exam, candidates will be shortlisted for Mains exam. As per the exam pattern OPSC CS, Mains exam will contain total 9 papers of which the first five papers are compulsory while Paper 6–9 are optional. The total marks allotted for Mains exam are 2600. The Commission will fix minimum qualifying marks for Mains exam as per their discretion.
Candidates obtaining the minimum qualifying cut off marks or more in Mains will be shortlisted to appear for Interview/Personality Test. The Personality Test will be conducted for 250 marks and the conducting body will not fix minimum qualifying marks for the same.
After completion of Personality Test/ Interview, OPSC will prepare the final result on the basis of combined marks secured in Mains and Personality Test. As the prelims exam is qualifying in nature, marks obtained in the exam will not be considered while preparing final result of OPSC Civil Services.
Odisha Public Service Commission conducts OPSC Civil Services in three exam stages – Prelims, Mains and Interview to recruit candidates for the various posts available under Group A and B of Odisha Civil Services. Candidates must qualify each exam stage to be called for the next stage of selection process.
