NEW DELHI, AUGUST 5: The exam of OTET has begin for both paper I and II. OTET 2019 exam is being held in offline mode to test the eligibility of candidates as teachers in classes 1 to 8. The test is being conducted by Board of Secondary Education, at various centres in different cities of Odisha. Candidates who have their OTET admit card along with a valid photo ID proof have been allowed to sit for the exam.
Through this test, candidates are being tested on their knowledge of Child Development and Pedagogy, Environment Studies, Mathematics/Social Sciences and command over English, and Odia/Urdu/Hindi/Telugu/Bengali. Candidates are being asked a total of 150 questions of 1 mark each for which they have been given 3 hours. No marks are being deducted in case of any wrong response.
Only those candidates will qualify in the exam who will score at least 90 marks out of 150 (for general/OBC candidates) and 75 marks (for reserve category candidates). All those candidates who score the qualifying marks along with the determined cut off marks will be considered eligible to become teachers in classes 1 to 8.
OTET exam is conducted for two papers - paper I and II. Paper I is conducted for those who wish to become teachers in classes 1 to 5 while those who wish to become teachers in classes 6 to 8.
Earlier the exam was slated to be held on January 16 for which a total of 1.75 lakh candidates had registered but the exam was nullified due to alleged paper leak.
