Placement sessions, research prototypes hog the limelight at IIT Delhi’s Industry day
NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 21: IIT Delhi’s Industry day saw exclusive placement sessions for PhD students along with the display of 200 industry-sponsored projects that were birthed at the institute. The placement session organized during the event saw the participation of 17 companies which interviewed more than 70 PhD students.
“The role of the industry primarily was to develop products, and that of academia to focus on education and research. But that’s changing now. Academia is expected to develop products through innovation. Innovation has now been added to our mandate in a major way. Academia and industry need to collaborate on research and innovation on products, which can benefit the society,” said Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi.
The industry day is an annual event held at the institute to promote industry-academia collaborations. The IIT Delhi research community showcased a large number of research-based prototypes and posters to industry leaders who attended the event.
Dr. V. K. Paul, Member, NITI Aayog inaugurated the day-long event at IIT Delhi. He was joined by Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi, Prof. Anurag S.Rathore, Dean, Corporate Relations and other senior IITD functionaries. Business leaders, research community and delegates from Finland and Japan also attended the event.
Industry Day 2019 had five thematic sessions which brought together more than 500 experts from the Industry.
