Pondicherry University organises Viksit Bharat at 2047 marathon

NEW DELHI: The Pondicherry University’s sports directorate organised a marathon on the theme ‘Run for holistic development: Road for a healthy nation’ as part of the ideas for the vision Viksit Bharat @2047 at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.

Puducherry home minister A Namassivayam inaugurated the programme. The minister delivered the inaugural address on the topic ‘India as a developed nation in 2047’ and emphasised on the role of youth in taking forward the mission of Viksit Bharat @2047. The minister also appreciated the young athletes and students of Pondicherry University for actively participating in this type of nation building programmes.

K Tharanikkarasu vice-chancellor presided over the function and expressed his views on the role and responsibility of students of Pondicherry University towards promoting this great mission of the union government. University’s deputy director of sports A Praveen welcomed the gathering and the institution’s sports director M Elayaraja coordinated the programme. Around 300 students, faculty, officers and staff took part actively in the Viksit Bharat @2047 Marathon.

Viksit Bharat @2047 is the initiative of the prime minister Narendra Modi to make the country a developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of independence. The vision encompasses various aspects of development, including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance.

The youth can be actively involved in the formulation of national plans, priorities and goals of the country through ‘Viksit Bharat @2047: Voice of Youth’.
