Kerala Police have launched an investigation after a 13-year-old Class 9 student alleged sexual harassment by her classmates in Pathanamthitta district.

Pathanamthitta (Kerala): A probe was launched after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly sexually harassed by her classmates here, police on Saturday said. According to police, two cases have been registered at Koodal police on Friday against six minors who were classmates of the victim studying in class 9 of a school in the district.
Police officials said that it was during a counselling session at the school that the victim revealed that she was sexually harassed by his classmates. The victim alleged that she was sexually harassed at a school premises and outside. On one occasion, the victim was harassed at the residence of the girl who was also her classmate.

Two cases have been registered based on the statement against 11 people, all of whom are minors. Police said that some of the students are accused in both cases, and a total of six minors are under investigation, and the involvement of more persons is suspected.
Police have identified the accused persons, and their statements will be recorded with the assistance of Child Welfare Committee members, officials said. Apart from these, two other people are being interrogated in connection with this incident, the police added.
