Professor Anu Singh Lather re-appointed AUD vice-chancellor

Delhi LG re-appointed the professor as the VC of Ambedkar University Delhi. She has been serving since 2019.

NEW DELHI: Professor Anu Singh Lather has been re-appointed as the vice-chancellor of Ambedkar University Delhi. Lieutenant Governor (LG) and university chancellor Vinay Kumar Saxena approved the re-appointment of the professor for the upcoming term.

Professor Lather has been serving as the vice-chancellor of AUD since 2019. Prior to this, she was the pro VC of Delhi Technological University (DTU). On February 22, 2019, she assumed office as the second VC of AUD.

Previously, Lather also held various positions with the University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), DEC, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), National Board of Accreditation (NBA), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). She was also a member of the Governing Body of the National Rural Livelihood Promotion Society (NRLPS), Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.

AUD VC's achievements

In recognition of her research contributions, the professor had been conferred with the Best Researcher Award consecutively for three years – 2010, 2011 and 2012 by GGS Indraprastha University. She also received a gold medal from the Faculty of Economics and Management, Slovak University of Agriculture, Slovak Republic for excellence in academic and research activities.

AUD VC received the International Achievers’ Award for Education Excellence by Indian Achievers Forum in collaboration with Singapore Chambers of Commerce and Thai Chambers of Commerce at the International Summit at Singapore in 2011. She also received the Best Paper Award in the 8th International Annual American Business Research Conference held in New York, USA in 2016.

Reforms, policies, courses at AUD

“At Dr B R Ambedkar University, she has played a pivotal role in completing all procedures relating to new campus projects in Rohini and Dheerpur by obtaining clearances from all relevant agencies, and the detailed project plan has been approved by the EFC, GNCTD. Additionally, she focused on developing infrastructure at existing campuses, which includes constructing various amenities such as SPS buildings, Girls Hostel, Multipurpose Halls, Auditoriums, labs, Research Scholar Halls, and a Physiotherapy Center,” said an official statement.

During her tenure, various reforms have been implemented, including centralizing the student information center, implementing NEP 2020, promoting vocational education, establishing a Training Placement Cell, digitizing processes, promoting research, introducing merit research scholarships, implementing a professional development policy, reforming travel grants, orphan policy, credit transfer policy, and student welfare policy.

Under her leadership, new schools have been established in the areas of public policy, tribal studies, media studies, mathematics, and data science, with various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes being offered in fields such as political science, Hindi, and management. 15 new PhD programmes have also been launched.

The university fraternity, teaching and non-teaching staff, welcomed professor Anu Singh Lather with great fanfare and thanked the LG for her reappointment.
