SASTRA University announces 30 percent increase in Trichy and Thanjavur seats

NEW DELHI: SASTRA Deemed University has decided to allot 30 percent of its total seats to students from Trichy and Thanjavur for the year 2020-21 in order to accommodate more local students in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, the university used to admit 20 percent seats (10 percent each from Trichy and Thanjavur) but for the 2020-21 year alone, the additional 10 percent seats will be allotted on the basis of merit from applicants who have completed their class 10 and 12th in the Thanjavur & Trichy school districts.

According to S.Vaidhyasubramaniam, Vice-Chancellor of SASTRA, this shall provide more opportunities for the local students to study in SASTRA which is amongst the top 25 universities in India as per NIRF 2020.

Students looking for admission should apply in online mode. The authorities will release the rank list for B.Tech admission on July 31, 2020 (9 PM) within four hours from the last date for time and admission. The counselling will be conducted in online mode.

S.Vaidhyasubramaniam said, “For the current students, the result for the end-semester exams conducted online will be released on July 20, 2020, and the online classes for the academic year 2020-21 shall resume on August 10, 2020. Classes for the freshers shall start in the face to face mode once the lockdown is lifted with an online bridge course preceding it”
