NEW DELHI: Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of State for Shipping, has launched the online exit examination system for Seafarers on August 07. The new portal was launched via video conferencing for the Seafarers who are getting training at various Maritime Institutes. With the help of the online exit examination system, candidates can now appear for the exam from their home. Check here for more details.
The step is taken in view of COVID-19 outbreak in the country. The minister said that India is the only country who started an online exit exam for Seafarers. He also added that online exit examination is designed with advanced security features. Seafarers can appear for the exam from the official website launched by the Directorate General of Shipping.
In 2017, from 1.54 lakh seafarers India has reached 2.34 lakh seafarers in 2019. The target is to reach 5 lakh seafarers now to boost the global maritime industry.
The training system comprises e-learning platforms and virtual classrooms approved by training institutes. The online exit exam serves as a medium to check the knowledge and training standard of seafarers.
