Seattle University, RoundGlass establish India centre to promote study of law

The RoundGlass India Centre will provide scholarships for students from India for comparative study of law.

NEW DELHI: Seattle University has collaborated with the RoundGlass Foundation to establish the RoundGlass India Centre to promote dialogue, collaboration, and interdisciplinary scholarship.

The objectives of the centre will be to organise public events of leaders from business, law, government, and other sectors from both countries at Seattle. It will also work to promote economic growth, rule of law and justice in India with a focus on Punjab. The centre will also provide scholarships for students from India to study at Seattle University.

The scholarship will focus on the comparative study of law in India. Sital Kalantry, associate dean of international programmes and graduates, will be the executive director of the centre.

The Centre was launched at the Seattle-Setu global conference at Seattle University, in partnership with Greater Seattle Partners. US House Representative Pramila Jayapal, Member of Parliament Sasmit Patra, and US Deputy Assistant Nancy Izzo Jackson delivered the keynote speakers.

The event also featured an address from mayor of Seattle Bruce Harrell and a recorded speech from Infosys founder Narayan Murthy.

With our faculty’s expertise and scholarship and RoundGlass Foundation’s commitment to education and economic development, we will strengthen our relationships with Indian business, government and academic leaders, as well as enhance study of India in the United States.”

Founder of RoundGlass Foundation Gurpreet Singh said “We are delighted to partner with Seattle University to focus on developing stronger business ties and academic knowledge on India. The RoundGlass India Centre will create opportunities for high-level substantive events on India in Seattle, and scholarships for students from India.”
