Somaiya Vidyavihar University selected nodal centre for ISRO’s space science training programme

ISRO’s START programme will offer training in space science to final year UG and PG students of physical sciences and technology.

NEW DELHI: Somaiya Vidyavihar University announced that it has been selected as a nodal centre for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)’s Space Science and Technology Awareness Training (START) programme.

The programme has been designed to provide training in various domains of space science to postgraduate and final-year undergraduate students of physical sciences and technology.

“Somaiya Vidyavihar University, as a Nodal Centre, will play a key role in delivering this training to both school and college students, preparing them for successful careers in the exciting field of Space Technology,” said the university in an official statement.

The programme will be conducted by scientists and will cover topics such as astronomy and astrophysics, heliophysics and sun-earth interaction, instrumentation, and aeronomy.

Professor VN Rajasekharan Pillai, vice chancellor of Somaiya Vidyavihar University, said, "Being selected as a Nodal Centre for the ISRO START Programme is a testament to our dedication to fostering excellence in education.
