The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) conducted inspections and found the 65 junior colleges submitted fake Fire Safety No Objection Certificates (NOCs). A total of 3,241 junior colleges across Telangana have been granted formal admission permission for the academic year 2026-27.

The Telangana board said that 12 colleges were currently undergoing evaluation for shifting premises or finalizing documentation. Affiliations along with access to the special admission module were also being issued immediately upon full compliance, it added.

“In strict accordance with governance rules, affiliation cannot legally be granted to any institution lacking enrolled students for the first year. The safety and security of students within educational infrastructure supersede all commercial or administrative convenience,” the official statement read.

27 colleges apply for zero admission

Moreover, 27 colleges voluntarily applied for NIL admissions after recording absolute zero student enrollments.

The board has also levied financial penalties exceeding Rs 4 crore on corporate colleges between July and October 2026 for diverse regulatory breaches, the statement added.

Furthermore, the TGBIE has condemned the misleading and baseless allegations leveled against it.

“It is paradoxical that associations decry regulatory oversight and frame routine statutory checks as "foul play," only to raise unwarranted alarm when comprehensive audits uncover systemic violations, forged paperwork, and severe non-compliance,” the board said.

It added that unfounded rumors to create artificial panic, and attempting to weaponize public sentiment to bypass legal requirements must be stopped and not encouraged by management or associations.

“Claims asserting that the Board favors corporate institutions are entirely baseless and categorically dismissed,” the board added.

The board has also formed a high-level compliance committee to streamline administrative processes and assist management in achieving full compliance.
