UGC: Institutions can apply for recognition of online courses till Oct 15
NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission, UGC, has invited higher education institutions to submit their proposals to offer online and distance learning courses from January 2021. The Commission has come up with Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes Regulations, 2020 on September 4.
The UGC has invited fresh applications from institutions eligible to offer such courses as per the new regulations, for the academic session beginning January 2021 and onwards.
As per the regulations, universities having accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a minimum score of 3.01 out of 4 or ranked in the ‘Top 100’ universities, of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), are eligible to offer the online courses.
Institutions will be allowed to offer only those undergraduate and postgraduate degree or diploma programmes in online mode which are already being offered by the institution in offline mode or through distance learning.
As per the UGC, the online portal for submitting applications shall be open up to October 15.
