UGC NET 2022: Students protest inside UGC building over alleged History paper leak

NEW DELHI: Several students entered the University Grants Commission building today to protest against paper leak in the National Eligibility Test, UGC NET 2022 exam. Students alleged paper leak in History exam which was held on October 10 by the National Testing Agency and demanded removal of NTA as examination conducting authority.

Activists from the Student Federation of India (SFI) and All India Students Association (AISA) were seen entering the UGC building with banners saying “repeal NTA’s contract of conducting exams” in videos and pictures shared on social media.

Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Association (JNUSU) wrote a letter to UGC chairman demanding re-conduct of History exam, removal of NTA as exam conducting agency and constitution of an enquiry committee to look into the matter and take strict action against the culprits. “This is to bring to your urgent attention that the recently concluded NET exam for history had got leaked over social media before the conduct of the examination. There are also reports of some other paper leakages which has happened. Such mishaps and negligence on the behalf of the NTA have put student community in a receiving end,” said JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh in the letter.

Earlier in July, SFI activists protested in front of UGC headquarters in ITO, Delhi, against the alleged mismanagement of the UGC NET exam by the NTA. Students shouted slogans against UGC and demanded strict action against NTA officials. SFI demanded the scrapping of NTA and for the UGC NET exams to be conducted by the UGC as before.
