NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar has informed that the UGC National Eligibility Test (UGC NET 2024) registration for June session will begin next week. The UGC NET exam 2024 is held twice a year in June and December to determine the eligibility of applicants for assistant professor as well as Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.

In a latest update, the UGC chairman posted on X: “NTA is working on launching the NET application process for the June 2024 session sometime next week.” The update came while announcing the decision allowing all higher educational institutions (HEIs) to use UGC NET score for admission to PhD programmes for academic session 2024-25 instead of holding different entrance tests.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will be hosting the UGC NET June 2024 application form on the official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in. The exam will be held in computer–based test (CBT) mode for 83 subjects

The criteria for awarding eligibility for assistant professorship and JRF will depend on aggregate score obtained by candidates’ in paper 1 and paper 2. Candidates qualifying only for assistant professorship are not eligible to be considered for the award of JRF.

As per the application fees, general category candidates will have to pay Rs 1,150 as registration fees, general-EWS, OBC-NCL will have to deposit Rs 600, and SC, ST, PwD, transgender will have to pay Rs 325.

In UGC NET December 2023 session, 9,45,872 candidates registered for the exam, of which 6,95,928 candidates appeared in 292 exam cities.
