Union HRD Minister launches online IGNOU's MA Hindi programme
NEW DELHI: Union Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has launched the online programme in MA Hindi to be offered in Indira Gandhi National Open University through a Facebook live session.
The programme is initiated to give strength to the “Padhe Online” campaign. The minister stressed on the role the Hindi language plays not in India but in other countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Mauritius, Fiji, Suriname, etc.
He congratulated prof. Nageshwar Rao, VC IGNOU for the initiative and encouraged other institutions to promote online education. He said “ In the last five years, more than 85 thousand learners have enrolled themselves in MA Hindi programme in IGNOU. The same number of students must have also been registered in the BA Hindi programme. This number is going to increase rapidly”
The Minister also said that initiatives like National Digital Library (NDL), Swayam, Swayam Prabha, Diksha among other platforms are offering online education to lakhs of learners across the country and this step will give stimulus to digital learning.
IGNOU offers online courses through its portal www.iop.ignouonline.ac.in. The online programme also includes video and audio lectures, tutorials, etc.
Other Online programmes
The university has also launched other programmes like MA in Gandhi and Peace Studies, BA in Tourism Studies, certificate course in Arabic, a certificate in information technology, a certificate programme in Library and Information Science.
Rao said the university has put many efforts for promoting online education in the last three months. The online programmes will be offered in the fee structure similar to conventional programmes.
