The UPSC CMS exam is conducted in two stages - written exam and interview. The written exam consists of two papers. Paper 1 has general multiple-choice questions (MCQs), while paper 2 has questions from general medicine and paediatrics subjects.

Earlier, UPSC also postponed some of its exams like the UPSC IAS interview for the 2020 session, UPSC IES/ISS Interview, UPSC EPFO recruitment exam etc. The exams were postponed due to the exponential increase in coronavirus cases and the lockdown which was imposed in many states.
