NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will close the registration for Civil Services preliminary examination 2024 today, March 5. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for UPSC CSE 2024 by visiting the official website at upsconline.nic.in. The UPSC CSE prelims exam 2024 is scheduled to be held on May 26.
The UPSC CSE 2024 aims to fill a total of 1,056 vacancies out of which 40 are for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD), 6 for candidates with blindness and low vision, 12 for deaf and hard of hearing, 9 for locomotor disability (including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy), and 13 for candidates with multiple disabilities.
UPSC CSE Prelims 2024: Application fee
The UPSC CSE application fee 2024 is Rs 100 for candidates belonging to the general category. Female candidates and those who belong to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates are exempted from paying the fee.

Candidates require the following documents to apply for UPSC CSE 2024
- Valid email address and phone number.
- Scanned picture and signature in the dimensions specified by the UPSC.
- Valid photo ID approved by the government.
- Academic marksheets and certificates
- Bank details for application fee payment
UPSC CSE Prelims 2024: Exam pattern
The UPSC CSE prelims exam 2024 consists of two papers, both will be held on one day. Questions asked in the UPSC CSE 2024 prelims exam will be of objective types. The UPSC CSE prelims examination is a qualifying stage to select candidates for the mains exam. The duration of each paper in UPSC CSE prelims 2024 is 2 hours. Each paper carries a total of 200 marks. For each correct answer, candidates receive 2 marks in paper 1 and 2.5 marks in paper 2. One third of marks allotted to each question.
