UPSC ESE 2019 preliminary exam to be held on January 6

NEW DELHI, JANUARY 3 : Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) preliminary exam on January 6, 2019. The exam will be held at 42 exam cities across the country. The preliminary exam of UPSC ESE will be conducted in two shifts - morning shift (9 to 11 am) and evening shift (2 to 5 pm).
According to the exam pattern, there will two papers in preliminary exam - paper I and II. Paper I is of General Studies and Engineering Aptitude which will carry 200 marks. Candidates will be allotted 2 hours to answer this paper. Paper II is of Engineering Aptitude (as per specific stream) carrying 300 marks where candidates will be given 3 hours to answer the paper.
As per the recent notification released by UPSC, candidates are advised to report early to their examination venue as the gates will be closed 10 minutes before the commencement of the examination. So, candidates appearing in morning session must reach the examination venue before 9.50 am and 1.50 pm for the afternoon session. No candidates will be allowed to enter the examination venue after the reporting time.
Candidates will have to carry admit card, black ball point pen, any one photo-identity proof - Aadhaar card/Voter card/PAN card/Passport/Driving Licence/any other photo ID card issued by the State/Central Government. The admit card was released on December 12 and will be available till the day of examination.
Candidates who will qualify the preliminary exam will be eligible to appear for the mains exam. The mains exam will have two papers – Paper I and Paper II. Both the papers are of 300 marks each. Candidates will be given 3 hours to answer each paper.
UPSC conducts Engineering Services Examination (ESE) for the recruitment to the Group A/B services in Indian Railway, Indian Ordnance Factories, Central Water Engineering Service, Indian Skill Development Service etc. Recruitment is made to the services/posts under Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication engineering categories. As many as 581 vacancies have been released for 2019 recruitment.
