NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 12: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the application form of UPSC IAS 2020 on February 12 in online mode at its official website. The application form has been released along with the detailed notification. Graduates can fill the application form in online mode till March 3. UPSC IAS application form has to be filled in two parts - part I and II wherein part I is filling basic details while part II includes payment of application fee, uploading scanned image and selecting preferred exam centre option. This year the Commission has announced approximately 796 vacancies for various posts of UPSC Civil Services.

Before filling the IAS application form, candidates must have certain items ready with themselves like class 10th passing certificate, 12th marksheet, photo identity proof like Aadhar Card/Voter Card/PAN Card/Passport/Driving License(Any One) Email ID, scanned copies of photograph and signature and a PDF file of photo ID.

How to fill IAS application form?

To know how to fill the application form of UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE), go through the steps below:

Steps to fill UPSC IAS application form 2020

  • Visit official website of UPSC - upsc.gov.in

  • Click on IAS apply online 2020 link

  • Select UPSC Civil Services 2020 examination.

  • Click on IAS registration 2020 part I

  • The screen then opens part I of the application form. Fill details.

  • After filling details, click on ‘Submit’ and proceed to registration part II.

  • Pay UPSC IAS application form fee and save the receipt for future reference.

  • Upload photograph, signature, and photo ID.

  • Check all the details and submit the form.

Along with filling the application form, candidates have to pay the requisite application form as per their category. Male candidates belonging to the general category have to pay Rs 100 while the reserved category and female candidates are exempted from the payment of application fees.

It is expected that this year approximately 10 lac candidates will fill the application form. The statistics of candidates applying for IAS application form over past few years have been mentioned in the table below.

After the prelims stage of exam, all the qualified candidates will have to fill the detailed application form for the mains exam, the application form of which will be Rs 200 for the general male candidates only.

UPSC IAS 2020 exam for the prelims stage is scheduled to be held on May 31, while the mains exam will begin from September 18. UPSC IAS exam is conducted to recruit the most deserving candidate at various Civil Services Posts of the Government of India, which includes the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS).
