Uttar Pradesh cabinet approves 3 state universities in Gonda, Mirzapur, Moradabad

UP cabinet has given approval to amend the UP Private University Act, 2019, to establish SKS International University in Mathura.
NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the proposal to amend the UP State University Act, 1973, to set up three new universities. The amendment bill has been brought to set up Maa Pateshwari Devi State University in Gonda. Maa Vindhyavashini State University in Mirzapur and Uttar Pradesh State University in Moradabad.
The bill will be introduced in UP Vidhan Sabha to amend the Sections 4, 50 and 52 of the UP State University Act, 1973. There are 34 state universities functioning in Uttar Pradesh.

The UP cabinet has also decided to bring an amendment to modify the UP Private University Act, 2019. The amendment will allow the establishment of SKS International University in Mathura.

State finance minister Suresh Khanna on Wednesday had allocated ₹303 crore for the establishment of five new universities -- three state, one law and a technical university – in this year’s budget, the Hindustan Times had reported.
The Maa Pateshwari Devi State University will serve the Gonda division which has four districts – Shravasti, Balrampur, Behraich and Gonda. The UP State University being set up in Moradabad division will serve Bijnor, Rampur, Amroha, Sambhal and Moradabad districts. The Maa Vindhyavashini State University will serve Badohi, Mirzapur and Sonbhadara districts of the state. The Hindustan Times has reported that the government has allocated ₹50 crore for each state university in the current budget.

The SKS International University will be set up by SKS Group, which provides turnkey heavy material handling lifting solutions and agro and food processing industry. It runs an ayurvedic college in Mathura and various education institutes across the country.
