Winners of ‘International Financial Olympiad 2019’ felicitated

NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 7: Delhi Public School, R K Puram which lifted the winners trophy along with other winners were felicitated by the ‘International Financial Olympiad 2019’ recently. The first runner team was from Singhania school, Thane, Maharashtra and the second from Welham Boys School, Dehradun.

Teams from Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Dehradun, Mumbai and Sharjah competed for the IFO Trophy and cash scholarship of 3,60,00 prize money.

As many as 6000 students from 280 schools of 25 cities across India and the middle east participated in the Olympiad which is being conducted for the past six years with an aim to make the budding generation aware of finances, financial market and its nuances.

Talking to Careers360, Hemant Bist, Program Director, International Finance Olympiad, said, “In 2001, we initiated one campaign called the million financial smiles and the idea was to reach out to the school students and make them learn financial life skills. Indian Economy is at a very critical point and people need to understand the basic things so if we see the economies of Europe or where we aspire to get in the next 10 years we need to create this generation aware as to why finances are important. Managing finance is something very important and this is something which will make their life better”.

PRATHAM, the knowledge partner of the Olympiad was one of the leading education chains to have sponsored the financial literacy campaign for students at school levels by Sponsoring the International Finance Olympiad. FAVCY is the technology partner for the Olympiad.

Ankit Kapoor, Managing Director, Pratham, added, “When the International Finance Olympiad team came to us 6 years ago, they came with the mission of a million financial smiles, so they had an aim of in the next 10 years they have to reach out to a million people and make them financially aware or literate.
