10th Board Exam 2021: Eight school examination boards, including the CBSE and CISCE, have cancelled 10th board exams due to rising COVID-19 cases.

NEW DELHI: With the country seeing a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases, states were quick to close schools and postpone or cancel annual examinations including board examinations. Tamil Nadu was the first state to announce the cancellation of Class 10 exams.
Later, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) decided to cancel the CBSE Class 10 board exam 2021 after a review meeting with the prime minister Narendra Modi, education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ and other officials. Following the CBSE decision, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) made the ICSE board exam 2021 optional for Class 10 students.
Following CBSE, nearly half a dozen states have cancelled Class 10 board exams.Here we have compiled a list of all the states that have decided to cancel 10th board exams.
The Tamil Nadu Government became one of the first states to cancel Class 10 board exams when chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami announced in February that Tamil Nadu Class 10 board exam along with examinations for Classes 9 and 11 were cancelled.
The Uttarakhand Government has cancelled the Uttarakhand board exam 2021 for Class 10 amid rising COVID-19 cases. The Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) had also postponed Class 12 exams.
The Jammu and Kashmir Government announced that the state cancelled ongoing Class 10 board exams for the remaining subjects. The government said that students will be promoted to Class 11 based on their performance in the internal exams.
The Telangana Government cancelled the secondary school certificate (SSC) Class 10 board exam amid rising COVID-19 cases. The students will be evaluated based on an “objective criteria” created by the Telangana Board of Secondary Education.
The Punjab Government cancelled the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 10 exams amid rising COVID-19 cases. The decision was announced along with the cancellation of the PSEB Class 5 and Class 8 exams.
The Haryana Government has cancelled Haryana board exam 2021 for Class 10 amid rising COVID-19 cases. Haryana education minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar said that the Class 10 students will be promoted on the basis of internal assessment similar to the CBSE scheme.
