288 students join BTech, BTech-MTech dual degree programmes at IIT Gandhinagar

IITGN received 288 students and welcomed them with Foundation Programme (FP) 2022, a flagship five-week programme by the Institute.

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) received 288 students, enrolled into the BTech and BTech-MTech dual degree programmes this year. The students were recommended by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) based on their Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advance 2022 scores.

These students come from 24 different states, with the highest number of students coming from Maharashtra (58), Gujarat (57), and Rajasthan (43). These are followed by Telangana (27), Madhya Pradesh (20), Uttar Pradesh (16), Andhra Pradesh (11), and Bihar (11), among others. Also, there are two overseas citizen of India (OCI) students from the United States this year.

This year IITGN have a total of 58 female students have joining the Institute taking the gender ratio among new undergraduate students to more than 20 percent.

The Institute welcomed the newly-enrolled students and kick-started their flagship Foundation Programme (FP) 2022 with an inaugural session where their family members were in the audience. FP 2022 is a 5-week-long immersive experience for the first-year students joining IIT Gandhinagar. It will include hands-on activities, interactions with eminent personalities, among other opportunities and coordinated by Sameer Patel, Abinaya Sampath, Rusa Mandal, Mukesh Dhanka and Subramanian Sankaranarayanan. The programme will be conducted from October 20 to November 23, 2022 at the IITGN campus.

Giving them a brief idea about various opportunities available to students and the Institute’s culture of freedom with responsibility, IITGN, research and development, dean, Amit Prashant, said, “As you become a part of this Institute today, you will have the freedom to choose your own path and at the same time be accountable for your choices and actions. So choose your way of learning, lifestyle, and destinations wisely. Learn new things and skills by working with people beyond classrooms.
