NEW DELHI: Three students of a Government Higher Secondary School at Sultanpet in the district, tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday. There students of ninth standard had undergone tests three days ago, Health department sources said.

The test results were positive and the students were admitted to the ESI Hospital here, the sources added. The department immediately disinfected the entire school premises to prevent further spread of the infection, after declaring a holiday.

The Tamil Nadu government had decide to resume offline classes from September 1 for Classes 9 to 12. SOPs were issued by the state government for schools reopening on September 1.

On September 1 schools were allowed to reopen with 50 percent capacity and the government instructed the schools to take necessary precautions as per the SOPs issued.

Schools were functioning six days a week with classes split into batches with not more than 20 students per classroom. If no additional rooms are available, then students shall be asked to come to school on a rotational basis on alternate days, it said. Online or distance learning will continue to be an alternate mode of teaching.
