NEW DELHI: The Karnataka education minister, BC Nagesh, announced that three transgender teachers were recruited in the state-run government schools. A total of 13,363 posts were filled through the state recruitment process.
The state education minister also informed that foundation stone was laid for the construction of 7,601 school rooms on November 14, 2022.
“1:1 ratio 'Provisional Selection' list for recruitment of 15 thousand teachers has been released. Applications were invited for a total of 15,000 posts. Out of which candidates have been selected for 13,363 posts,” the minister said.
The Karnataka government had in February this year decided to reserve 1% jobs for transgender in the education department. For the first time, three transgender teachers have been selected in a 1:1 list, e said. Eligible engineering graduates were also allowed to apply for the recruitment for the first time. Of the total who appeared in this category, 19 people were selected in 1:1 list .
“The target was to complete the recruitment process of 15 thousand teachers in a strict time frame. Accordingly the process from the date of issue of notification to release of the provisional select list of 1:1 ratio is completed within 9 months,” BC Nagesh said.
