AADTA seeks DU to increase seats in one-year PG programmes, reopen two-year admission portal

The Academic for Action and Development Teachers Association (AADTA) has written a letter to the University of Delhi (DU), to address the concern over admission to the newly introduced one-year postgraduate (PG) programmes. In the letter, the association urged the university to allocate seats to the colleges under the one-year PG programme, stating that the number of seats allotted to different departments is meagre and insufficient.

The association also suggested reopening the portal for two year PG Programmes for the eligible fourth year students as many students have taken admissions in two year programmes on the basis of CUET PG, but they are waiting for the admission lists of the one-year PG courses, so that they can switch over. This can lead to fall vacant seats in the two year PG programmes.

The letter reads, "The portal for two year PG programmes should be reopened so that such eligible fourth year students can apply for admissions, who don't find a place in the list of one year PG programmes.”

About DU one-year postgraduate programme

DU has introduced new one year programmes for the academic year 2026-27 under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This eligibility for this programme, aspirants belonging to UR/OBC-NCL/EWS category must secure 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in the four-year undergraduate programme under UGCF 2022 from DU, while for applicants belonging to SC/ST/PwBD category, must score 45% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in the same programme.

DU will offer admissions to 46 one-year postgraduate programmes. Candidates can apply for multiple courses such as MA in Arabic, Bengali, MCom, MSc in Biochemistry, etc. The newly introduced programme will offer more than 1,100 seats across different disciplines.
